Hello everyone. I’m just introducing myself for now. I’m Gary, a thirty something child of Thatcher who has persistently lived on the edge of achieving something, and has now reached an age where I realise that it doesn’t have to be greatness, fame or fortune.
I’ve always had a penchant for putting pen to paper and finger to keyboard but I’ve never really gone anywhere with it. I don’t suppose a wordpress blog is taking it anywhere in particular, but at least its a start.
In the past I’ve written quite a bit. I’m published in The Observer and have regularly contributed to the Lincolnshire Echo. I’ve written extensively on Lincoln City FC, editing a website dedicated to them as well as a fanzine for a short time. I have been writing a book for the last eleven years as well, but like every faded aspiring writer cliché you’ve ever heard, I’ll get around to finishing it one day.
I don’t know exactly what I’m going to write about here. I’m certainly going to do some game reviews for all those geeks who don’t want to waste all their hard earned pennies trying the latest PlayStation 4 games. I’d expect some other reviews as well, maybe films and gigs. Who knows?
I’m certainly going to aim for some current affairs writing, perhaps once I brush up on what is actually happening. I’m experiencing a struggle at the moment politically, not knowing whether I’m a nasty Tory wanting to kill the poor or a sandal wearing liberal wanting to hug the poor. There doesn’t seem to be middle ground these days, so perhaps I’ll explore that.
There will definitely be a section on football and I should imagine a fair bit written about the mighty Lincoln City.
I think I’ll ease up on the introduction and go off and begin to write my first piece.
